Fredric Albert Barck's Obituary
Fredric Albert Barck, age 80, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 24, 2022.
He was born on July 12, 1941 in Amherst and lived in the area his entire life. He was a graduate of the very first graduating class of Marion L. Steele High School in 1959. Fred proudly served as an officer with the Vermilion Police Department for 25 years before retiring as a Lieutenant. While in the department, he began and oversaw Safety Town and the Vermilion Police Explorers. He was also a real estate agent and broker for his own company, Barck Auction & Realty. He was a certified auctioneer since 1983 and enjoyed auctioneering up until present day. For 16 years, Fred was a trustee for the Brownhelm Township. In 1993, he proudly graduated from a special officer’s class led by the FBI National Academy that was held in Quantico, VA.
Fred absolutely loved being a Christian and serving the Lord. He also very much loved being a dad, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed being in the outdoors whether it was walking, hiking, birding, fishing, or proudly running his numerous 5K and 10K races. He also enjoyed traveling whenever he had the chance.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby M. (nee Jenkins), children; Fredric “Ric” (Christine) Barck, James (Deborah) Foster, and Robin (John) Taylor, grandchildren; Rachel (Nathaniel), Carolyn, Isabel, and Emily, great grandchildren; Zayde & Nash, sister, Joann Leopold, and a brother-in-law, Rev. James Greenawalt.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; Albert Barck and Maryette (nee Hutton) Barck-Wilhelm, step-father, Carl Wilhelm, sisters; Audrey Reynolds & Nancy Greenawalt, and his beloved dog, ‘Tiger.’
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30th, from 4 – 7 pm, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. His funeral service will be Friday, July 1st, at 11:00 am, also in the funeral center. Rev. Cliff Morris will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
