"Fritz" Frank J. Piskur Jr.'s Obituary
“Fritz” Frank J. Piskur, Jr., 80, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2017, at the home of his daughter Wendy, following a courageous battle with ALS. Fritz was born on October 1, 1936 to Frank J. And Pauline (nee Pavlich) Piskur in Lorain. He was a 1954 graduate of Vermilion High School. From 1954 to 1957 he served in the United States Air Force at the end of the Korean War. He retired from Ford Motor Company and, in his retirement, enjoyed many part time positions from golf starter to salesman. He enjoyed yardwork and loved golfing.
Fritz was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen (nee Rick) in 2012. Surviving are his daughters their husbands, Wendy and David Banas of Amherst; Lori and Jon Koethe of Huron; grandson, Matt Koethe of Wellington: brother and sister in law, Jon and Jerry Piskur of Vermilion; beloved friend and companion, Judy Shirley of Vermilion; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Pete Pavlich from St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, will officiate followed by full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Fritz's name to the ALS Association, Northern Ohio Chapter, 6155 Rockside Road - Suite 403, Independence, OH 44131 or online at www.webnoh.alsa.org.
