Gary Richard Good's Obituary
Gary Richard Good, 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Born April 18, 1942, in Marion, Ohio, Gary was the beloved son of the late Jesse and Helen (nee Vigar) Good. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966, an experience he often reflected upon with honor and gratitude.
Following his military service, Gary built a respected career in Marine Electronics. Over the years, he worked for Lorain Electronics, Ramar and Sachs, and ITT McKay. He was known for his strong work ethic, and technical skill.
Gary embraced life with enthusiasm and a sharp mind. He loved playing cards and completing crossword puzzles — always in PEN. He was an avid fan of Cleveland sports teams and never missed an opportunity to watch Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune. Gary delighted in telling stories, sharing his seemingly endless knowledge of trivia (“yes, everything”), and the stories he would share about his time “chasing boats.”, researching genealogy, and confidently outsmarting GPS navigation systems. Music was also a constant joy in his life, especially the songs of Bob Seger, Fleetwood Mac, and Neil Diamond
Above all, Gary treasured the time he spent with his family, who will remember him for his humor, intelligence, and the countless memories they shared together.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice G. (nee Shaw) Good; sons, Ray (Classic Beth) Good, Rich (Wendy) Good, Jon (Maria) Good, and Tim (New Beth) Good; grandchildren, Josh (Ruby), Zack, Ethan, Xavier, Madelyn, Greyson, Genevieve, Parker, Bailey, and Delaney; and his brothers, Dwight K. Good, and Ronald E. Good. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Helen Good; sister, Charlotte A. Good; and his brother, Ivan C. Good.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be said on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev.
