Gary Paul Gross' Obituary
Gary Paul Gross, age 61, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023.
He was born on January 27, 1962 in Norwalk, OH and is a 1980 graduate of St. Paul High School in Norwalk. Shortly after marrying the love of his life, Linda (nee Savinsky), is when they moved to the Lorain area where they have been for over 30 years. After high school graduation he pursued his dream of becoming a Pharmacist and went to The Ohio State University. From there is where he earned his Bachelor’s degree of Science in Pharmacy in 1985 and then his Master’s of Science (Pharmacy Administration) degree in 1988. When he had his degrees in his hand he started work at various pharmacies, some including; Gray Drugstore (currently Rite Aide), CVS, Revco and Giant Eagle. Most of his career was spent at Discount Drug Mart for over 20 years, with 17 years being at the Amherst location.
Gary is a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vermilion. When Gary was not working, you could almost always find him tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. And when he wasn’t in his garden, he enjoyed working on Jigsaw puzzles, watching the birds, taking drives by the lake and traveling. He was a sports enthusiast as well, always following and cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Buckeyes, and the Norwalk St. Paul football team.
Gary is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda S. (nee Savinsky), son, Matt (fiancé – Gabrielle Trexler) Gross, daughter, Rachel Gross, his beloved golden retriever, “Princeton” and his siblings; Dan (Julie), of Kettering, Nancy (Jim) Wilson, of Plain City, Tricia (Jim) Racher, of Upper Arlington, Tom (Ruby), of Norwalk and Virginia (Jeff) Zimovan, of Dublin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Patricia (nee Widman) Gross and a sister, Susan Marie.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 9th, 2023 from 3 to 7 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A Rosary service will be held at 3:00 pm, at the beginning of visitation. Friends will also be received on Tuesday, from 9:30 am until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, OH. The Rev. Fr.
