George D. Barker's Obituary
George David Barker, age 70, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
He was born on March 11, 1947 in Boone County, West Virginia. He was employed at US Steel, for 20 years, as a boiler operator and stationary engineer, before finally retiring in 1986.
George’s greatest passion and love was being able to spend time with his family, especially his beloved grandson. He also enjoyed shopping at antique sales and flea markets, working on cars, and small engines.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Donna F. (nee Keathley), his 2 children; Brian (Tiffany) Barker and Jessica (John) MacDougall, grandson, Sean, and his sister, Patricia Long.
George was preceded in death by a son in infancy, and his parents; Albert G. and Artie M. (nee Walker) Barker.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 24th, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. His funeral will be on Friday, at 10:00 am, also in the funeral center. The Rev. Danny Parsons will officiate services. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
