George W. Scheiferstein's Obituary
George W. Scheiferstein passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017. He was surrounded by his loving and extended family.
George was born in Lorain, Ohio on June 23, 1932. He graduated from Lorain High school in 1950 and attended Miami University.
George raised his family in Amherst, Ohio. George loved to be on Lake Erie with his friends and family. He always vacationed at the beach and chose to live near the water as a 20 year homeowner and resident of his beloved Fripp Island and recently Huron, Ohio.
George was a Lifelong member of the Masons and always active in the Lorain Civic Community as a young business owner of Scheiferstein Insurance Agency Inc. of Lorain, Ohio , founded by his father in 1927. During his career, George was a leader amongst the developing independent agent network throughout Ohio.
Proceeded in death by his father, C.D. Scheiferstein and mother, Marian (Wieland) Scheiferstein. He is the oldest brother to Jean (Wells) and James Scheiferstein.
George is survived by his loving wife Jerri of 65 years and five children: Jeff, Cindy (Robinson), Dann, Susan (Calkins), Kevin, Jennifer (Maxwell), Kelly, Tom (Waldon), Suzanne (Parker). George was the awesome Grandfather to 13 grandchildren and Great Grandfather to 13+ Great Grandchildren.
A Special Thanks to the staff of Amherst Manor in the loving care they gave to our father. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in George Scheiferstein’s name, to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 440053. A private family service was held Saturday, August 26, 2017.
Our father touched the hearts of many with his sense of humor, kind heart, understanding, and above all his love. We have all been blessed by his presence.
