George Wilson's Obituary
George Allen Wilson, 61, a devoted husband and father went home to the Lord on December 24, 2009 after a 2 year illness. He faced his cancer and the process of dying with the same strength and courage with which he lived his life.
George was born July 18, 1948 in Lorain to Oscar and Dallie Wilson, and married Susan Majkut of Lorain on November 10, 1973. He began work at US Steel as a millwright apprentice and later became a maintenance manager in the rolling and conditioning mill. George was a member of St. Peter’s Church and The Slovak Club. Fishing, bowling, camping and golfing were a few things he liked to do. But the times he cherished most were those spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Susan (nee Majkut); sons, Russell (Lani) of Lorain, Adam (Valerie) of Vermilion, Jacob (Connie) of Sheffield Lake; Daughters, Rachel Wilson, of Amherst and Lindsay Baird (Daniel) of Sheffield Township; 10 grandchildren and 2 sisters of Lorain, Karen Conroy and Dana Lunn.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dallie (nee Howard) Wilson and his sister, Barbara Jean Blackburn (nee Wilson).
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27th from 2-6 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. at Church of St. Peter, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Charles Henkle, OFM Conv, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
