Georgene Mary Uhlir's Obituary
Georgene “Gee Gee” Mary Uhlir (nee Knispel), age 86, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at Kingston of Vermilion, after a short illness.
She was born on September 4, 1935 in Amherst and eventually attended the 3-year program at Providence Hospital in Firelands to ready her for her career. Georgene was a registered nurse working as a staff nurse to supervisors. Her career provided her jobs here in Ohio, but also in Georgia, Florida, and Illinois before finally retiring in 1997. She enjoyed being part of the Nightingales Nurses Club as well as being a member of St. Joseph Church in Amherst. Georgene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, April Uhlir, of Chicago, IL, daughter-in-law, Darlene Uhlir, of Troy, NH, her son, Craig (Liegh) Uhlir, of Chicago, IL, granddaughters, Riley Sheridan & Addison Rose, her cousin, Anna Grasso, of Lorain, and her God Children, Rob & Kim Jones.
Georgene was preceded in death by a son, Brian Uhlir in 2017, her brother, Norman Knispel, and her parents, Walter & Mary Louise (nee Pozone) Knispel.
