Georgia R. Cecil's Obituary
Georgia R. Cecil, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Mercy New Life Center. She was 72 years old. Georgia was born on June 28, 1951, in Defiance, Ohio, to her loving parents, Paul and Mary (nee Meyer) Deisler.
After graduating from Antwerp High School in 1970, Georgia pursued further education, specializing in secretarial studies. She embarked on a diverse career path, finding fulfillment in various roles. Georgia dedicated herself to retail sales at Dillard's Department Store, shared her passion for beauty as an Avon representative, and shared her creative talents by teaching ceramics classes.
Georgia found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from baking delicious treats to attending craft shows, gardening, and enjoying the great outdoors through camping with her family. However, her greatest source of happiness came from spending time with her family, especially her six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 50 years, Robert Cecil; her loving son, Rob (Mandy) Cecil; her dear daughter, April Cecil; her grandchildren, T.J., Christian, Cierra, Hunter, Ariella, and Delanee; her 16 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Paula (Stephen) Mallett and Connie (LeRoy) Sheets; her brother-in-law, Bob Cottrell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Deisler; her brother, Bill Deisler; and her sister, Cathy Cottrell, and her great-granddaughter, Jasmine Cecil.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, located at 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Closing prayers will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the funeral center, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Rev. Father Timothy O'Connor, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at New Russia Township Cemetery.
