Geraldine A. Kozloski's Obituary
Geraldine A. Kozloski (nee Salanci), age 88, of Lorain, passed away at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph on Sunday, April 9, 2023.
She was born on July 19, 1934 in Buffalo, NY to Frank and Eugena (nee Vasu) Salanci. As a very young girl, she moved to Cleveland where she lived for a number of years and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation is when she moved to Lorain and has lived since. Prior to getting married, she worked for the Department of the United States Navy in Cleveland. After starting her family though, she worked as a cashier at Meyer Goldberg, Fazio’s and Willow Hardware, where she retired from.
Geraldine was one of the couple of members remaining of the “No-Name Club” which she always loved being a part of. The club originated in the 1950’s and was formed by a group of close friends. And for 50 years, they always looked forward to getting together every month for lunches, card games, some good gift exchanges and great laughter and conversation. She also enjoyed working on her ceramics, tending to her flower gardens, and traveling, especially to Florida and Texas. Geraldine was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Lorain.
She is survived by her sons Ted and Leonard, both of Lorain; daughters Terri Frey (Brian), of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and Laura Standifer (Lorne), of Euless, TX; grandchildren Matthew Austin, Jamie Hahn, Christine Klein, and Karen Kozloski; and great grandsons Jamison Hahn, Rhett Hahn, Jack Austin and Liam Austin.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Theodore, in 2009; son Lawrence, also in 2009; and a sister, Shirley Scott in 2018.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 14th, 2023 from 9:30 am until the time of closing prayers at 11:30 am at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Her Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:00 pm at St. Peter’s Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44053. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. To send an online condolence, please go to www.dovinreberjones.com.
