Gizella Benko's Obituary
Gizella Benko (nee Orosz), age 93, passed away December 11, 2014 in Florida where she had been living with her daughters for the past 14 months.
She was born on May 25, 1921 in Lorain, OH to Frank and Johanna (nee Rada) Orosz.
Gizella was employed by the Lorain City Schools for 5 years preparing the food for the students’ lunches. She was an active member of the former Holy Trinity Church in Lorain and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital and The American Cancer Society.
She enjoyed traveling, knitting, quilting and gardening.
Gizella is survived by her son, Mark (Mary Ellen) Benko, of Lorain; daughters, Marsha A. (Frank) Anders, of Mount Dora, Florida, and Marie (Dennis) Drenkhan, of Kissimmee, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Palka, of Sheffield Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Benko, in 1997; a son, Robert J. Benko Jr., in 1996; brothers, Frank, Louis and Carl Orosz; sisters, Elizabeth Youngless, Helen Milicic, Priscilla Phillips, Molly Janas and Elvira Nemeth; and her parents, Frank and Johanna Orosz.
A Memorial Service is planned for May of 2015 at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. An obituary will appear again a week prior to the service.
