Glenn A. Griffith, a devoted family man and true outdoorsman, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Avon Clinic in Avon, Ohio. He was born on December 8, 1938, in Elkins, West Virginia, to Charles and Marie (nee Hyre) Griffith. Glenn led a rich and adventurous life, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy.
Glenn's journey through life was marked by service to his country, as he proudly served in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, he had the incredible opportunity to explore the world and even crossed the equator twice, a testament to his adventurous spirit.
After his military service, Glenn embarked on a career with the Ford Motor Company, dedicating his talents to the company until his well-deserved retirement in 1992. Beyond his professional life, Glenn was a man of many passions and interests.
A genuine outdoorsman, Glenn found solace and joy in the natural world. He had a deep love for hunting, fishing, and camping, but his heart truly belonged to his family cabin in West Virginia, where he spent countless cherished moments surrounded by nature's beauty.
Golf was another of Glenn's passions, and he reveled in the camaraderie and competition it brought. Motorcycle trips with family and friends added an extra layer of excitement to his life, and he particularly relished the journeys to and from Alaska with his brother. Glenn and his buddies “The Breakfast Club” would meet daily at the McDonalds on Colorado Ave. for fellowship, he truly cherished this ritual and their friendship.
An artist in his own right, Glenn possessed a remarkable talent for woodcarving, specializing in intricate waterfowl designs and playful caricatures. His craftsmanship left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to appreciate his creations.
Glenn had a deep affection for animals of all kinds and was known for his kind heart and empathy towards them. His beloved cat, Mr. Purr, was a constant source of comfort and companionship.
In addition to his diverse interests, Glenn was a member of the American Legion and U.A.W., further demonstrating his commitment to community and service.
Glenn A. Griffith is survived by his loving children, Cheryl (Mark) Seymour, Greg (Juanita) Griffith, and Tom Griffith; cherished grandchildren, Halle Seymour, Ian Seymour, and Brandell Koeth; devoted brother, Sam Griffith; caring sister, Sue Knight; former spouse, Dottie Young; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marie Griffith, as well as his siblings, Virginia Rose, Richard Griffith, Pete Griffith, Jennings Griffith, Don Griffith, and Jean Rowan.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and share their memories of Glenn at a visitation on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The visitation will be held at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
