Gundemaro "Joe" Bedoya's Obituary
Gundemaro “Joe” Bedoya, age 86, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at his home while under the care of New Life Hospice.
Born on November 14, 1926 in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, Gundemaro came to the United States with his mother after graduating from high school.
He served in the United States Army from 1950-1953. While stationed in Germany, he met and married his wife, Elsa.
For 35 years, Gundemaro worked at US Steel in the bar mill, retiring in 1988.
He enjoyed gardening and doing electronic repairs.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elsa (nee Rennar); his daughters, Patricia Bedoya, of Aurora, CO, and Nina Zink, of Amherst; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Yolanda Morales, of Orlando, FL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Helen Van Gilder, his mother, Zoila Bedoya and his brother, Oscar Castillo Bedoya.
The family invites friends to join them at a graveside committal service on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in Ridge Hill Memorial Park. (Please meet at cemetery gates.) Military honors will be conducted by the Amherst Honor Guard.
The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst handled the arrangements.
