Dr. Harold C. Copperman's Obituary
Dr. Harold C. Copperman, DDS, age 92, of Lorain passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at his home under the care of New Life Hospice.
Harold was a lifelong learner and avid participant in a variety of activities. He received his undergraduate degree from Alberta Case Western University where he was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEP). He received his DDS from Western Reserve Dental School in 1951 where he was a member of Alpha Omega. He volunteered with the United States Army for World War II and served as a Staff Sergeant with the B-29 bomb squadron stationed in Guam. He also served in the Korean War as a 1st. Lieutenant in the Dental Core.
Harold started his dental practice in Lorain, OH in 1953 and married his wife, Denise De Winter in 1954. He was a life member of the American Dental Society, past Scientific Editor of the Lorain County Dental Journal, honorary member of the Pierre Fouchard Dental Society, and was the recipient of the Early Implant Dental Treatment Award by the Cleveland Dental Society.
He was a member of the ABI Temple, in Lorain and was past President of B’nai Brith. Harold was a member of the Vermilion Power Boat Squad, where he served as Commander; and the Vermilion Power Boat Yacht Club, where he served as Commodore. He was also a member of the Silverwheels Bike Club, Wild Cat Investment Club and volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank.
Harold is survived by his wife of 61 years, Denise (nee De Winter) Copperman; son, Ron Copperman; daughters, Lesli (Mike) Mautz and Rita (John) Chagin; grandchildren, Natalie, Tom, Hannah, Allison and Amy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
The family suggests contributions may be made in memory of Harold to the Second Harvest Food Bank, 5510 Baumhart Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
