Harry Woods' Obituary
Harry Woods, 85, of Lorain passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 surrounded by his devoted family. He was born November 6, 1938 in Riverside, West Virginia to Harry Woods and Mary (Snider) Woods.
Harry was one of the lucky ones, meeting his soulmate, Sandy, at a young age and growing a family of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Though he never missed an opportunity to give her a piece of his sarcastic humor, there was nothing he loved more than Sandy. He spent his life devoted to his family having started working on a farm at a young age to help his mother. He worked many jobs throughout his life to provide for his family and eventually retired after a long career at Ford Motor Company.
Throughout his life, Harry loved hunting and fishing, and it was no secret that he had a green thumb, keeping a fruitful garden in the family’s backyard. He’d often be found sitting on the back porch watching a storm roll in, chatting with a visitor at the kitchen table, or enjoying a midday nap or three on the couch. He was a simple man in the best way, rarely frazzled and known for being the calm and quiet one in his loud and passionate family. He was known as the caretaker and provider for his entire family.
His legacy is carried on by his children: David (Debbie) Woods, Carolyn (Mike) Kobasher, Steven (Nancy) Woods, and Jason (Cheryl) Woods. “Pappy”, as he was called, will live on in the hearts of his 10 grandchildren: Eric, Sandra, David, Melissa, Amanda, Emily, Kristina, Devin, Griffin, and Meyer as well as his 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is remembered and loved by his nieces and nephews.
Upon his passing, he was reunited with his loving wife, Sandy, his parents, and siblings.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
