Helen Paul's Obituary
Helen J Paul (nee Majer) 89, died peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was surrounded by her loving family and holding hands, as always, with her husband Bill. She was born in Lorain, Ohio and resided there her whole life. Helen graduated in 1946 from St Mary High School in Lorain after having attended St. Stanislaus Church grade school. It was at St. Mary’s High school where she met Bill, the love of her life.
Helen was employed as an elevator operator at St Joseph Hospital in 1945. She worked at Lorain Products in 1968 and as a sales associate at Economy Sales until they closed. She then retired from Hill’s department store in Amherst in 1983 where she worked in the jewelry department, but her favorite job was caring for her family.
Helen and Bill were avid travelers enjoying many road trips and cruising the oceans. One of her particular joys, was dancing with her sweetheart, Bill. Helen also had a love for all creatures great and small. We have many happy memories camping at Findley State Park and our annual outings at Whipps Ledges. She was a member of St. Mary Church and a longtime member of the Women’s Guild of St. Mary.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, William Paul, son Dennis Paul (Mary) of New Berlin, Wisconsin; daughters, Barbara Pepon (George) of Lorain, Linda Lombari (David) of Lorain, Janet Mossbarger (Douglas) of Dayton, and Diana Miller (Bill) of Lorain; and 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Majer and Mary (Stahura) Majer Lubacz and brother, John Majer.
The family would like to graciously thank her nurse, Andrea and the aides of New Life Hospice who helped Bill care for Helen so lovingly and gently while at home and all the caregivers at Kingston of Vermillion during her brief stay.
Funeral Services and interment were privately held. A memorial “Celebration of Life” will be announced at a later date.
