Helen Mary Rieth's Obituary
Lorain – Helen (Peanie) Mary Rieth, age 90, of Lorain passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018, after a brief illness.
Helen was born on June 26, 1928 in Vermilion, Ohio, to Helen and Kenneth Baumhardt and attended Vermilion High School.
Helen made her career in real estate sales and property management. She owned and managed many rental properties along with her husband, Gerald. She was a Realtor for over 35 years at Rieth Realty, Inc.
She was a member of the Lorain Child Guidance League and was a member of the Lorain County Association of Realtors up until her retirement. When St. Peters Church opened on Oberlin Avenue, Helen became a member of the choir and sang in the first midnight mass in the new church.
Helen wintered in her home in Vero Beach, Florida for over 35 years. She was an accomplished bridge player and enjoyed playing many games with friends around the Vero pool. She loved watching tennis.
She is survived by her two sons; James G. Rieth, (Doreen) and Thomas E. Rieth (Kathleen), three grandsons; Zachary (Heather), Jacob (Tanya) and Joshua (Rachel), and four great-grandsons; Gavin, Samuel, Jaxon and Maxim. Helen is also survived by a brother, Kenneth (June) Baumhardt of Englewood, Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Gerald Rieth, on June 25, 2015, her parents, Helen and Kenneth Baumhardt, her sister, Ruth Reed, and brothers; James and Myron Baumhardt.
The Rieth Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 26 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber-Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
