Share a few stories about our Mom, Grandma, this remarkable woman. Born in Pittsburgh to Russia Immigrants. Russian was spoken at home. Poor family with lots of love. Received an orange for each Christmas. Worked at US Steel as a secretary.
Loving, attractive life loving person.
My dad said that is type of woman I would like to marry some day
Life was her family kids and grand kids. Although never had alot of money always ate great. Always always a lot love. With both our mom and dad we always knew we were number 1. Our mom was always 100% all in. If you had a problem she had a problem. Always there.
Not typical 70-83 year old woman. Worked from 18-79. Most with lorain schools. Had email account, active in politics, had a passion for life and loved. Great judge of character, feisty. If she did not like something you knew it. Never doubted or has to guess what she thought she told you. Wrote letters to congressman. trying to right wrongs.
Shortly after diagnosed with GIST, we were at friends cabin and I looked at her and thought remember this moment. She was happy because all of us were together. I recall that moment today. Some of my favorite memories: time she went golfing at vermillion country club with mike ry and me. Not sure if she wanted to golf, just wanted to be the best mom and grandma. Time after I told her how Mike her first grandchild was riding a bike she told me she always wanted to learn how to ride a bike, we went to elementary school at. 7 in morning and I ran along with my 65 year old mom and taught her to ride.
Worked until she was 79. One recent assignment was at Southview detention. Imagine the characters at the Southview high school detention. As they laughed when the 79 year old cancer patient came in, she said, "Nobody move!" Someone wanted to go to bath room and she told them "Nobody is going to the bathroom".
Came to visit Chicago. Orange line by self. Bold tough. watched me work and told me how proud she was of me. I was so proud of her as everyone at work loved her.
First diagnosed with gist in 2003. 8-9 bonus years.
Value of life. What are you remembered for. what is your legacy Legacy.
Some people are great leaders? Some pretend to be great leaders and take credit and talk about a great legacy.
My mom legacy was love. What better legacy than having all your kids and grand kids want to spent time with you. Want to have you come live with you. Want you to go on vacation. Hilton head, Florida, Paris, Italy.
Great Relationship with all 13 grand kids and all 4 kids. Very proud of my sisters MARIE and Cindy and brother John as I watch them raise their families. Great parents because of my mom.
What better legacy and what more would you want to remembered for. Because of my mom Helen Snyder, all of my brothers and sisters and 13 grand kids know how to be a great parent, grandparent, role model,
They know how to die. As she lay there dieing she was not worried about herself, did not feel sorry for herself, worried about all of us.
Because of my mom, 13 grand kids and my brother and sisters, know how to love, how to help others.
Know that all of us love mom and grandma so much that we will want to spend even more time with each other and cherish her memory.
