Henry Klekota's Obituary
Henry G. Klekota born on July 19, 1926, in Lorain, Ohio to Leon and Anna (nee Sukalski) Klekota passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the age of 95 at Mercy New Life Hospice.
He was a 1944 graduate of Lorain High School and upon his graduation he enlisted with the United States Navy serving his country during World War II.
Henry was employed by Fruehauf Trailer in Avon Lake from its opening until its closing. He then went on to work at the Lorain Shipyards where he also worked until its closing. He retired from the Bay Village School System where he worked as a custodian in the maintenance department. Henry was very proud of his work there.
He was a very active member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, sang in the choir, and served as an usher and reader. Upon the church’s closing he became a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.
Listening to polka music, dancing, playing poker, and bowling were all things that Henry enjoyed. His life revolved around his family, and it was his family that brought him the most joy. He especially loved family reunions and cookouts with his in- laws.
Henry is survived by his wife of 71 years, Eleanor (nee Zaborniak); son, Kim (Judy nee Brletic) Klekota, of Amherst; daughters, Karen (Phil) Linn, of Lorain, and Kathleen (Daniel) Nehls, of Vermilion; 6 grandchildren; 4 step- grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 7 step- great grandchildren; and his sister, Theodora “Teddy.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Anna Klekota; brothers, Edward, Theodore, Harry, and Walter; sisters, Wanda, Jean, Theresa, Walterine, and Lottie; and his son- in- law, Thomas Casper.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. in the church. Rev. Father Timothy O’Connor, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Masks will be required at the visitation and Funeral Mass.
