Ivette Rupert's Obituary
Ivette Rupert (nee Velazquez) of Lorain, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022. Ivette was born on October 23, 1956 in Lansing, Michigan. She graduated from Lorain Catholic High School in 1974 and attended some college at Kent State University. She took pride in her work as a legal secretary for two prestigious law firms in Cleveland, Ohio.
Ivette possessed a unique zest for life, vibrant personality and sense of humor. Her love for music and dance began early with her days as a majorette. She was energized watching marching bands perform and attended countless parades and festivals with her children, grandchildren, or anyone that would go along with her. She enjoyed vacationing in Las Vegas and Hilton Head and looked forward to short road trips with family.
Ivette was an avid reader. Steven King, Dean Koontz and Mary Higgins Clark were her favorite authors. She also loved putting together jigsaw puzzles, solving crossword puzzles daily, and crushing everyone in Scrabble. She studied her Scrabble dictionary often just to come up with new high-scoring words that she could not wait to play in her next game.
Ivette was the most kind and loving person and her generosity extended to everyone she welcomed into her home. No one left without hugs and kisses. But her greatest love was spending time with her family. She never wanted to miss an opportunity to get together and celebrate a birthday, holiday, or just have a good time. She coordinated all of the schedules, gave her thoughts on the menu and would arrive thirty minutes early, cheesy potatoes in hand, and was ready to get the party started. We promise to keep the party going in your honor.
She is survived by her three children, Steven Lawson (Denise), Michelle Najda (Christopher), and Joe Jarnigan, Jr.; her best friend and sister, Milly Torres (Jose); her partner Jose Pineiro; sisters Linda Steele, Patricia Alicea, Susan Pagan, Sandra Rodriguez, and Aurea Davila; grandchildren, Steven Lawson Jr., Nathan Lawson, Alexis Vavla, Alaina Jarnigan, Jace Jarnigan, and Liam Fritz; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Ivette was preceded in death by her parents, Angel and Cristina Velazquez, and special mother, Patricia Torres.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19th, 2022 from 4 -7 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Her funeral service will be on Tuesday at 10:00 am, also in the funeral center. Rev. Mark Hebebrand, Pastor of the House of Praise International Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. To send an online condolence, please go to www.dovinreberjones.com.
