I haven't seen Jackie in over 30 years, we ran around in the same crowd in high school. I remember her as the "mother" of the crowd, always caring, friendly, and a genuinely nice person.

Jackie was the favorite teacher of several of my kids, even inviting us to her wedding, a typical example of the way she was more than "just their teacher". She even made special arrangements to have my kindergartner come up to her classroom to read to the class as a way to keep her engaged and foster her love of reading. I see this picture of her and it is just the way I always remember her. She loved her son more than anything, and I hope that he always knows that ! We are so saddened by the loss of this fantastic educator and wonderful lady!
Jackie I will love you always, you are a great friend and I will never forget you. You helped me through the toughest times of my life. You gave me strength where I had none. I believe your a great teacher and no one could help my children like you. You are one of the best moms in the world, I hope I can be as good as you. You loved everyone and kept my spirits up. I pray that Jesus takes you in his arms and comforts you.
My heart is with Jackie's son Christian and her siblings and parents - I am so very sorry. I have been thinking about Jackie a lot these past few days, wishing we had reconnected when I moved back to Ohio a few years ago. Though we hadn't seen each other since our Magnificat days, I will never forget her. Her smile alone lit up any room and her laughter was infectious. She was also fearless, or at least struck me as so, and her adventurousness mesmerized me as a teenager...but it was her kindness, even in the quiet moments that I will always hold with me. I was blessed to have her in my life - even for a short while. My thoughts are with you all...and I have to believe that her spirit lives on in each of you. Take dear care of one another.

Although I haven't seen Jackie for several years, she made a huge impact on my family! Jackie was a most caring teacher and friend, for myself and my son. She was my sons 3rd & 4th grade teacher. Jackie helped me through the hoops of getting my son into the special education school he needed to be in. Without her help, my son would have spent his elementary school years everyday and all day in the office doing nothing (except the 2 years he was with Jackie). When I divorced my husband Jackie attended counseling sessions with Eric and I. Jackie was a special kind of person, I only wish a portion of the teachers these days had the caring and devotion to her students and their families that Jackie had! I will think about her often and am so sorry for her son Christian's loss of his mother, I am glad he is old enough to remember everything about her. My sorrow also goes to her family and close friends.

To Jackie's Family, We knew her as "Guba". Why "Guba", because I have a sister and a step daughter Jackie. There was no confusion when you said "Guba". She came into our life as a substitute teacher in Columbus, Ohio. We knew "Guba" when she got her first classroom, when she earned her Masters Degree, and when she bought her first white convertible. My family and I were instantly drawn into her energy, spirit, spunk, and laughter. "Guba" would spin into our home and get everyone energized. If you were in the middle of a project she would jump in and help you. Before long everyone on our street had met "Guba" and she was instantly their friend. Both of us being from a big family knew the rules of getting along with one another. Quite times were few and far between when you are use to a large group. We were summer swimming buddies, gardening/flower planters, bulletin board makers, lunch buddies, walkers/runners, snow day pals, and most of all talkers. "Guba" lived with us for over a year and I will never forget the friendship, the long talks, and help she gave us with our two sons. Both sons considered "Guba" a second mom. She is a friend that will never be replaced. We have been talking on the phone for over 24 years.Oh how I will miss our talks. Oh how I will miss my friend. I know my special Jackie "Guba" will be talking to me from above. She was one of a kind and we will miss her. Call me my friend!
