Jacqueline Schuenaman Newbury's Obituary
Jacqueline Schuenaman Newbury (née Pryor), age 86, of Lorain, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Ganzhorn Suites of Avon. Born on June 12, 1938, in Lorain, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harold and Ruth (née Newcomer) Pryor.
Jacqueline graduated from Lorain High School in 1956 and went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in Education from The Ohio State University in 1959. She furthered her education by earning a Master's Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. Jacqueline dedicated over 57 years to educating and mentoring young minds in Lorain, Cleveland, and the Brunswick School System. She began her career in 1960 and retired in 2017, serving both as a teacher and a principal. Throughout her career, she was a member of numerous professional organizations and served as the past president of the Lorain AAUW (American Association of University Women).
In addition to her passion for education, Jacqueline was a lifelong musician. She played the French horn and Marimba. Also, she was a member of The Ohio State Concert Band, Vermilion Concert Band, and Patriot Symphonic Band. She had a love for the arts, enjoying painting, crafts, travel, sightseeing, shopping, swimming, water skiing, and snow skiing. She also delighted in dining out and, most recently developed a love for frozen mochas.
Jacqueline was known as a social butterfly who loved to entertain, hosting numerous parties for her family and friends. She cherished spending time with her family at the lake in Irish Hills, Michigan.
She is survived by her devoted husband, William Newbury; her children, Scott E. (Colleen) Schuenaman of Amherst, Sherri (John) Cooney of Bluffton, SC, and Susan (Mark Easterday) Schuenaman of Elyria; her granddaughter, Morgan Schuenaman-Easterday; and her sister, Halle (Linda Stamps) Pryor of Sebastopol, CA. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her grandson, Brian E. Schuenaman, and her parents, Harold E. and Ruth M. Pryor.
The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Her Life on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dovinreberjones.com.
