Jacquelyn A. Fordyce's Obituary
Jacquelyn A. Fordyce, born on July 15, 1954, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Lewis and Hellen Jane (nee St. Amant) Sullivan passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Mercy New Life Hospice at the age of 67.
She was a graduate of Zachary High School in Zachary, Louisiana and went on to further her education at LSU, and Cleveland State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Education and Reading from Baldwin Wallace University.
Jacquelyn made her career in teaching. She taught at North Coast Christian Academy in Lorain for 10 years and retired from the Avon School System in 2015. She loved to read and to teach others to read.
She was a very active member of Broadway Assembly Church in Lorain where she played the piano/organ and served the Church in any way that she could. She went on many mission trips where she taught reading. Those trips took her to Panama, Russia, and the Ukraine.
Music, playing games, going to zoos and libraries were activities that she enjoyed. She had a kind and generous heart and was always giving to those in need. She loved and cherished her family.
Jacquelyn is survived by her husband of 46 years, Greg Fordyce; children, Stephen Fordyce, Kimberly Griffith, and Joshua (Heidi) Fordyce; grandchildren, Kendra Fordyce, Tarian Fordyce, Avalon Fordyce, Jesse Griffith, Broden Fordyce, Kara Griffith, and Liam Fordyce; sister, Lajuanda (Tim) Daigle; brothers, Peter (Mary) Sullivan, Lewis (Sondra) Sullivan Jr., and Bret (Sherlyn) Sullivan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Broadway Assembly Church, 5495 Broadway Ave., Lorain, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Broadway Assembly Church, officiated by Pastor Matt Jones. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Jackie to Broadway Assembly Missions.
