James Barnes' Obituary
James E. Barnes, age 76, of Elyria,Ohio, passed away on Sunday January 3, 2010 at New Life Hospice Residential Center following a lengthy illness.
James was born on May 25, 1933 in North Ridgeville, Ohio to Charles P. and Mary (nee Darcy) Barnes.
He enlisted in The United States Army in April of 1952, as PVT-1st class, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on April 22, 1955, as SGT (T).
Mr. Barnes was employed as a store manager for Kroger Grocery Stores for 20 years. He then was employed in sales at Goodman Beverage for 32years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the VFW Post # 1662, in Amherst. He enjoyed photography and computers.
He is survived by his son, Terry Barnes, of Lorain; daughters, Sue (Tim) Liepold, of Amherst Twp. and Diane (David) Collins, of Amherst; grandchildren, Bryan Barnes, of Lorain, Megan Collins, of Elyria, Kevin Collins, of Amherst, Michael Liepold, of Amherst Twp. and Robin Liepold, of Amherst Twp.;sister, Winnie Beckloff, of North Ridgeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles P. and Mary (nee Darcy) Barnes; brothers, Chuck and Jack Barnes; sisters, Sister Kathleen, of Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, Genny Pataky and Rita Edmonds.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 7, 2010 from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. The Rev. Fr. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, will officiate. Private family burial will be held.
