James John Campana's Obituary
James John Campana, 75, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2024. Born on March 6, 1949, Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Lorain, where he built a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family and community.
A proud graduate of Admiral King High School, Class of 1967, Jimmy began his career at the young age of 12, working alongside his father in the family business, Campana Concrete. In 1990, he purchased the business when his father, Baldo Campana, retired. Jimmy continued to run Campana Concrete with the same integrity and commitment that had been its foundation. After Jimmy’s retirement in 2014, the business closed, marking the end of an era for the Campana family.
Jimmy was married to his beloved wife, MaryAnn Campana, for 39 wonderful years. Together, they shared a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. He is also survived by his three children: Toni Ann Shanahan (Scott Shanahan), Robert James Campana, and Baldo James “BJ” Campana (Jennifer Campana). His pride and joy were his six grandchildren: Alexandria, Abygael, Alivia, Liam, Alec, and Kyle, as well as his five great-grandchildren: Greyson, Aria, Mia, Jasper and Penelope.
Jimmy was a devoted son to his parents, the late Baldo Campana and Mary Campana (née Cambria). He is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Campana (2014), and his sister, Carol Campana (2023). He is survived by his twin brother, Joseph Campana (Jaye) Campana) and sister, Cynthia Elkins (Paul Elkins), Jimmy is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who will remember him fondly.

Among his many contributions to the community, Jimmy was proud to have created the “V for Victory” monument at Victory Park in Lorain on Lake Road, a lasting symbol of his dedication to the city he loved.
His pride in supporting his city and the Lorain Lighthouse was a reflection of his deep love for his hometown. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
