James R. Filbert's Obituary
Jim Filbert, age 70, of Amherst, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
He was born on April 11, 1946 in Lorain and lived in this area his entire life. He retired from Ford Motor Co., Lorain Assembly in 2001, after 30 years. He was a member of the Amherst Eagles, a lifelong musician, and an avid golfer. He enjoyed gardening and traveling with his wife. Above all, he loved and cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandkids.
Surviving is his loving wife of 49 years, Judi (nee Jabbusch), daughter Melissa (Mike) McQuate of Amherst, his son James C. (Amy) Filbert of Berea, his three beautiful grandchildren; Samantha McQuate, Sean McQuate, and Arisa Filbert, and his brother Harry Filbert of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles E. and Irene M. (nee Buga) Filbert, and siblings Jeanne Konnerth, Chuck Filbert, and Shirley Filbert.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 16, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. At 6:30 PM, family and friends of Jim’s will be invited and encouraged to reflect upon his life and share their favorite memories of him.
