James Gettens Jr.'s Obituary
James J. Gettens Jr., 56, of Vermilion passed away suddenly on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
James graduated from Vermilion High School in 1978. Upon his graduation he enlisted with the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1984. He was employed for 25 years with Ford Motor Company Ohio Assembly Plant.
James enjoyed hunting but his greatest love was his family and grandchildren. He was loved by many.
He is survived by his wife, Judith (nee Hawkes); daughters, Jennifer (Martin) Warington, of Vermilion, Jamie (Michael) Mediavilla, of Lorain, and Jessica (Todd Jeremay) Gettens, of Sandusky; grandchildren, Victoria, Tyler, Annalyse, Jocelyn, and Ayden; companion, Candie Conrad; brothers, Patrick (Jean) Gettens, and Michael Gettens; and his sister, Bonita (Jeff) Amenda.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Gettens Sr. and Sharron (nee Stafford) Gettens.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where funeral services will follow the visitation at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Dave Woolsey, will officiate. Inurnment will take place on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, 8303 Cemetery Road, Vermilion, OH.
