James Francis McCrann's Obituary
James (Jim) Francis McCrann passed away on August 6, 2021, at the age of 81, in his hometown of Elyria, Ohio. His battle with an unexpected health issue proved his perseverance and zest for life that he demonstrated throughout his 81 years. Despite the pain, Jim came out a hero and stayed strong until he passed peacefully in the end.
Jim was gregarious and should have been a comedian professionally. Jim had a passion for golf and loved to drive even if he had no idea where he was going. As in life and while driving in his car, his life and those lives who shared it with him was an adventure and journey even if the destination was unknown.
Jim was born on December 31, 1939, to Francis and Tina McCrann in Elyria, Ohio. After graduating from Elyria Catholic High School in 1958 he became a meat cutter at Meyer Goldberg’s and ultimately finished his career in food sales. In 1961 he met his first wife Linda of 25 years when they wed in 1963. They had 3 children, Paul, Patrick, and Peter. In 1988 he met his second wife of 31 years Kathy. They remained married until his death.
Jim was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His boys meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of the relationship he and his three sons had with one another. They all enjoyed golfing together. To this day you may see his three boys golfing together locally throughout the summer months.
Anyone who knew Jim knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. Jim was predeceased by his sister Patricia and two brothers Robert and Richard. He is survived by Kathy his wife and his three boys, Paul, Patrick, and Peter. Jim had 7 grandchildren, Mindy, Abby, Bailey, Shelby, Dylan, Emma, and Tristan.
