James C. McGranor's Obituary
James C. McGranor, age 65, of Amherst passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake.
He was born on February 23, 1955 in Amherst, Ohio to Alfred and Shirley (nee Hannah) McGranor. He was a 1973 graduate of Marion L. Steele High School. James retired from Ford Motor Company in 2016 after 39 ½ years of service as a welder.
James was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Amherst, a life member of Amherst Meadowlarks Motorcycle Club and the Bow & Barrel Archers in Berlin Hts. He enjoyed archery, riding motorcycles, golfing, watching the Cleveland Browns, and building and fixing everything.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gloria (nee Coppola); children, Jason (Lizette) McGranor, Kevin (Jessica) McGranor, Ryan (Shannon) Banyas, Megan (Jim) Robbins, Stephen (Jeni)Banyas, Aaron (Cheryll) Banyas, and Sharon (Brian) Gerth; 17 grandchildren; mother, Shirley McGranor; sisters, Roberta (Joe) Skaggs, and Missy (Pat) Holmes.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Alfred McGranor; and his sister, Janet Manfredi.
The family would like to thank the Taussig Cancer Center, and the Ames Family Hospice for the unbelievable care that James received and a very special thank you to his “Special Guardian Angel”, Julie Smasa.
