James R. Nickoloff's Obituary
James Robert Nickoloff, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the age of 61. His passing occurred at Mercy New Life Hospice Center, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family.
Born in Lorain, Ohio, James was the son of Robert and Carol Nickoloff (nee Kosten). He attended Lorain Catholic High School, graduating with the Class of 1980.
James's professional journey began in 1980 when he joined his family's business, Nickoloff Builders, Inc. His commitment and hard work led him to become the operator from 1995 to 2012. Throughout his career, he showcased exemplary leadership and expertise, earning recognition from various associations. Notably, he was honored as the Associate Member of the Year by the North Coast Ohio Building Officials Association in 1999 and received the esteemed Remodeler of the Year award from the North Coast Building Industries Association in 1994.
Beyond his professional pursuits, James embraced life with a profound love for music, concerts, biking, fishing, hunting, and camping. He found solace and joy in the great outdoors, particularly by spending time at the lake. Yet, his greatest source of happiness was his family, where he found unconditional love and support.
James leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his beloved wife of 24 years, Kelly Nickoloff (nee Wagley); his devoted children: Robert (Megan) Nickoloff, Betsy (Justin) Smith, and Annie (Fiance, Mike McKenna) Nickoloff; and his adored grandchildren, Scarlett Mae and Oliver Marshall James Nickoloff. He is also survived by his brother, David (Mary Kay) Nickoloff, and sister, Jennifer (Eric) Ferrero.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Carol; his brother, Bobby; and his sister, Cynthia.
To honor James's memory the family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, located at 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Jim's memory to the Friendship Animal Protective League or to Mercy New Life Hospice Center. These donations serve as a fitting tribute to James's compassionate spirit and love for both animals and those in need.
