James C. Simashkevich's Obituary
James C. Simashkevich, age 71, of Amherst, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.
He was born on July 23, 1949 in Amherst, where he lived his entire life. He is a1967 graduate of Marion L. Steele High School. He worked in management departments for various local companies until retirement in 2012. Jim was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.
Jim adored his 2 grandchildren and was always there to attend their events and activities. He was an accordion player for two bands, “The Ambers” and the “3 rd Edition.” Jim’s favorite activities include amateur radio, golf , bowling, camping, and watching all Cleveland Sports teams . He also enjoyed traveling with his wife.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia A. (nee Pogachar), his 2 sons; Brian (Anna) Simashkevich, of North Ridgeville and Drew (Melissa) Simashkevich, of Westerville, OH, his 2 grandchildren; Kayla and Evan Simashkevich, and his siblings; Debra (Frank) Miller, Cindy Keith, Frank (Marlene) Simashkevich, Richard (Barb) Simashkevich, Mark Simashkevich, and Ellen (Dewey) Hembree. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Martha (nee Syrowski) Simashkevich.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 22 nd , from 10:00 am until the time of his funeral Mass at 11:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, OH 44001. The Rev. Fr. Timothy J. O’Connor, Pastor, will officiate. The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, is assisting the family with arrangements.
