James E. Van Hoose's Obituary
James E. Van Hoose, age 69, of Sheffield Township, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a lengthy illness.
Born on January 9, 1946 in Elyria, he lived most of his life in Sheffield Township.
For 23 years, James worked as a maintenance welder at General Motors in Parma, retiring in 2008. Prior to that, he worked at US Steel for five years and American Shipbuilding for 13 years, both as a welder.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Elyria.
James enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing horseshoes and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Maria (nee Ramirez); his daughters, Cynthia (Paul) Kotefski, of Amherst, Jennifer Kelly, of Sheffield Township, and Sarah (Ernest Cornwell III) Van Hoose, of Elyria; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Paige Kotefski, Brandon Van Hoose, and Alicia Cornwell; his brothers, Robert (Marie) and Edgar, both of Elyria; his sisters, Kathy (Harold) Rutledge, of Sheffield Township, Donna Gunnoe, of East Palentine, OH, Linda (Jerry) Martin, of Grethel, KY and Margaret (Charles) Nutt, of Sheffield Township; and many niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Marie (nee DeChant) VanHoose; his sister, Shirley Hall, and his brother, Donald VanHoose.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 4– 8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where closing prayers will be held on Thursday, April 16th at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N Ridge Rd, Elyria. Rev. Fr. Donald Dunson, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
