James Patrick Vanuch's Obituary
James P. Vanuch, 69, of Amherst, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2025 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on March 28, 1956 in Lakewood, OH to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Mullens) Vanuch, Sr.
Jim was a 1974 graduate of Lakewood High School, where he played football and freshman basketball. He also participated in youth baseball in Lakewood and was well respected for his speed and natural athletic ability across any sport he tried. In his youth, he loved riding bikes through the valley with friends—a memory he often cherished.
He was a member of Trinity Church in Amherst and enjoyed attending monthly men's breakfast.
An avid golfer, Jim found great joy in meeting up with long-time friends and traveling whenever he could. He had a deep compassion for animals and those less fortunate, always showing kindness and empathy to those around him.
Known for his sense of humor, Jim was a true practical joker who loved surprising people just to see their reactions. His joyful spirit and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is survived by his loving wife Chrysta (nee Mislinski) Vanuch of 36 years; brother Joe Vanuch (Patti); sister Rene Guest (Ed); and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Linda Knapp and sister-in-law Jill Vanuch.
