James Edward Whitt's Obituary
James Edward Whitt, age 68, of Amherst Twp., Ohio passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic under the care of hospice.
He was born on September 2, 1951 in Holden, West Virginia. James attended Marion L. Steele High School and furthered his education at Lorain County Community College. He enlisted with the United States Marines and was honorably discharged.
James was employed as a painter by Ford Motor Company and retired in 1999. He was active with owning his own business his entire life. He started with a booth at Jamie’s Flea Market, selling radios and electronics which evolved into a mobile service that catered to car dealerships and was the founder of Wittguard Security. He also served as a Lieutenant with the Lorain County Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff’s Office and served as a Boy Scout Leader.
He enjoyed woodworking, going to flea markets and auctions. James was a wonderful grandfather.
James is survived by his wife of 17 years, Carol (nee Kubit); children, Amber Whitt, Kristie (Matt) Fox, Tricia Schuster ( The kidney donor for James), Thomas (Virginia) Forbrizzio, and Stacy (Anthony Presello) Forbrizzio; grandchildren, Bradley, Gavin, and Michael Schuster, and Claire Forbrizzio; brother, Donald (Sharon) Harper; and his sister, Barbara (Mike Driggs) Rider.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Phyllis Harper.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the funeral home will be following specific guidelines to ensure the safety of all visitors. We ask that you enter through our main entrance of the funeral center, please pay your respects to the family, and exit through our gathering center door. Face coverings are required, limited seating will be provided for the service to ensure that a six feet separation is maintained.
