Janet Louise Ahlgren's Obituary
Janet Louise Ahlgren (nee Birk), age 91, of Lorain, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 24th, 2022, at St. Mary of the Woods, Avon.
She was born on September 18, 1930, in Lorain, where she lived her entire life and is a 1948 graduate of Lorain High School. After high school, she attended the college of Wooster. Janet worked at Magic Chef and then Bendix Westinghouse. She married her sweetheart, Donald on March 2, 1963. They were married for 59 years, and Donald loved to hear Janet sing. Together they built a beautiful life.
Janet was a member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, formerly a member of the Delaware United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Leah Circle, the Fairhome P.T.A., and enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader. Some of her other hobbies were cheering on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals, playing cards, working on puzzles, cooking, and baking.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Donald Elmer Ahlgren, her daughters; Anne Louise Ahlgren-Keller, of Lorain & Lynn Marie (Evan Richman) Ahlgren, of Lowell, MA, her beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne Keller, of Columbus, OH, and her brother, Fredrick (Paula) Birk, of Avon Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Hans Peter and Gladys Alexandra (nee Burgett) Birk.
The family shares their appreciation for the excellent care Janet received in her final days from the ICU/ICU Stepdown floor at Cleveland Clinic- Avon Hospital at Richard E. Jacobs Campus, St Mary of the Woods, and Hospice of the Western Reserve.
