Janet Paula Sciarrotta's Obituary
Janet Paula Sciarrotta (nee Patak), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Independence Village in Avon Lake. Janet's life will be celebrated and remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was born on January 16, 1938 in Elyria, Ohio to John Andrew and Pauline Rose (nee Mocsny) Patak, and graduated from Elyria High School and the Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She worked as an RN at Metro and Parma Community Hospital.
Janet was involved in social and community organizations in Lorain County for many years. These included the Lorain County Medical Society Auxiliary, Lakeland Women’s Club, Colony Club and Second Century Club of Lorain Community Hospital. She was also a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital.
She enjoyed cooking, decorating, traveling, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with her family, especially on birthdays and holidays.
Janet is survived by her sons, John- Charles “Jay” (Jeanette) Sciarrotta, of Amherst, and Joseph (Karen) Sciarrotta, Jr., of Arizona; and her grandchildren, Jason (Michaela), Jacob, Jared, and Katharine Sciarrotta.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Joseph Sciarrotta M.D.; parents, John and Pauline Patak; brother Jack Patak; sisters, Eleanor (nee Patak) Polen, and Beverly Patak; and her first husband, Fred Schneider.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, OH. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Private family inurnment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, in Avon AT A LATER DATE.
