Jean L. Kalivoda's Obituary
Jean L. Kalivoda (nee Mazzoni), age 82, of Lorain, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residential Center, in Lorain, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born in Lorain, Ohio on December 13, 1931 to August and Mary Mazzoni and had been a life-long resident. She graduated from Clearview High School in 1950 and attended Lorain Business College.
She married Karl Kalivoda on May 12, 1956.
Jean worked in the office at the Cadillac Tank Plant in Cleveland, US Steel in Lorain, and then raised her two children. She also worked at Lorain Products, where retired in 1993, after 21 years.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Lorain. For a number of years, Jean, along with her sister and many of their friends, were part of the Belladonna’s. They would meet monthly, at each other’s house, for a night of fun and laughter, and boy did they laugh!
Jean loved cooking, traveling, her flowers and plants (she always had a “green thumb”), along with enjoying time spent on her back patio. She truly enjoyed watching the Academy Awards Show and was always correct on who was going to win the “Oscar”. Jean was most proud of her 4 grandchildren and loved them very much.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Karl Kalivoda, of Lorain; her children; Michael (Beverly) Kalivoda, Amherst, and Joyce (David) Presutto, Vermilion; her grandchildren, Angela and Jill Presutto and Amanda and Adam Kalivoda; her sisters, Elva Krosky, Arlene (Tony) Marcucci, Lorain; her brothers, Joe (Barbara) Mazzoni, Amherst and Jerry (JoAnn) Mazzoni, North Ridgeville; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Raymond, and brothers-in-law, Stanley Raymond and Raymond Krosky.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 18th from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst.
