Jeanette Ann Swanson's Obituary
Jeanette (Szefcyk) Swanson
We respectfully celebrate a long life well lived. Jeanette (Szefcyk) Swanson was born August 2, 1931 to Polish descendants Adam and Laura Szefcyk in Lorain, OH. She enjoyed her 90 years of a joyful life and passed away June 21, 2022.
Jeanette graduated from Lorain High School and Lorain Business College acquiring her Business Administrative degree. She utilized her skills within the family business.
She married Stanley Stodolak and resided in Hamilton, Ontario. They were blessed with 3 children Stan, Peter and Laura. She was widowed and returned to Lorain to be closer to her family. She married Raymond Swanson and was blessed with their daughter, Lisa.
Jeanette, along with many of her siblings contributed to the family-owned business that her father established, known as Adams Café. If you were part of the Lorain community years ago – you probably frequented this welcoming café and was treated like a member of the family.
She cherished her Polish heritage, was an excellent cook, an accomplished Polka dancer, spoke Polish fluently and visited her ancestors in Poland. She believed ‘Health is Wealth’, valued education, modeled Saint Francis love for animals and was a devoted Catholic. She loved her home that Raymond built, her garden, strawberry crème pie, Strauss music and Lorain.
Jeanette is survived by her son Peter (Julie) Stodolak of Boynton Beach, FL, daughters Laura Stodolak of Phoenix, AZ and Lisa (Greg) Baker of Port St. Lucie, FL, her grandchildren Mia Stodolak and Alex Baker and four great grandchildren. Jeanette was the last of her generation for the Szefcyk, Stodolak and Swanson families.
She was preceded in death by her son, Stan and her siblings John, Walter and Helen (Lepkowski).
The family extends their gratitude to Jeanette’s caretakers, Roxanna Lamie and Melody Morgan, who assisted her the past few years.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1st, 2022 from 4 – 7 pm, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
