Jeffery L. Howells' Obituary
Jeffery L. Howells, 76, of Amherst passed away while in the presence of close family on December 27th at Mercy Health – New Life Hospice after a valiant fight with a lengthy illness.
Jeffery was born in Lorain, Ohio and has been a local resident throughout his life. He graduated from Marion L. Steele High School in 1966. He then worked as an electrician at the U.S. Kobe Steel Plant in Lorain until he retired to spend time with his wife, friends, family, and beloved dog.
Jeffery married Lesley J. Howells (nee Lavish) in 1996 and enjoyed 27 years of adventure and experiences with her.
Jeffery spent most of his time with his family and friends and was active in St. Joseph Church’s many functions. He liked to visit the local library and enjoyed reading books and magazines while relaxing at home. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed afternoon car rides ending in visits to museums and Amish country.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Howells (nee Smith), his father David Howells, and his grandson David Kelley.
Among many people whose lives Jeffery has touched, he is survived by: his wife Lesley Howells (nee Lavish); his brother Terry Howells (Amherst); his sister Carol Rankin (Norwalk); his son David Howells and fiancée Rebecca Escanio (Fleming Island, FL.); his Daughter Heather Kelley, husband Tim Kelley, and grandson Austin Kelley (Bullfrog, Utah); step daughter Beth Revennaugh and husband Aaron Revennaugh (Elyria); and step daughter Jackie Uhrig and husband Scott Uhrig, (Avon).
Family and Friends will be received at St Joseph Parish located at 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio 44001 on Wednesday January 3rd. There will be visiting hours at St. Joseph Church starting at 10:00am followed by an 11:00am Mass. Following the mass, a burial service will be held at St Joseph Cemetery located at the corner of Pyle South Amherst Rd. and Middle Ridge Rd. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
