Jeffrey A. Sears' Obituary
Jeffrey A. Sears, age 61, of Amherst passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on November 7, 1955 in Elyria, Ohio to George and Marjorie (nee Brubaker) Sears and graduated from Elyria High School in 1974.
Jeffrey made his career as an HVAC technician for 43 years at UH Elyria Medical Center, in Elyria.
He was an avid golfer and really enjoyed spending time outdoors and was a jack of all trades. He loved his 3 cats and his bird, Barney, Gracie, Charlie and Lucy, as he affectionately referred to as his “kids”, Jeffrey will be remembered as a gentle and kind man who never judged others and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Jeffrey is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jean (nee Gilgenbach); brothers, George (Janet) Sears, Tom (Linda) Sears, and Mike (Donna) Sears; sisters, Sharon (Dennis) Yearley, and Mary Kaye (Russ) McCallum; brothers-in law, Marc (Patty) Gilgenbach, Jack (Margie) Gilgenbach, and Brad Gilgenbach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marjorie Sears; brothers, Larry, Jon, and Mark Sears; and his sisters, Dianne Bauer, JoAnn Gilliam, and Patricia Roberts.
The Sears family will receive friends for a celebration of Jeffrey’s life on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Jeffrey to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035 or to a charity of your choice.
