Jennifer Lyn Keating's Obituary
Jennifer Lyn Keating
Sept 10, 1968 – Nov. 29, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jennifer Lyn Keating, 54, cherished mother of Emanuel Morell, of Amherst, (father, Rene Morell), beloved daughter of Dennis & Diana Keating, dear sister of Kristin Reitz (Mark) of Jupiter, Florida and Susan Anderson (James) of Avon, Ohio, and cherished aunt of Carter & Emerson Anderson and Marcus & Carys Reitz. Jennifer also is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, both in the US and England, all of whom will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Ivy Doreen (nee Daniels) & Michael Repas, and paternal grandparents Vera (nee Bahoric) & Thomas Keating.
Jennifer obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kent State University and held an LISW certification for many years. She began her career at the Genesis House Domestic Violence Shelter in Lorain as a Shelter Manager.
Jennifer then enjoyed a successful career as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and was employed by Innovex Corporation and Schering -Plough Corporation. Most recently, Jennifer was employed as a substitute teacher for Lorain City Schools.
Jennifer was a fierce animal lover and advocate, which led to her often “adopting” any stray animal that made its way to the vicinity of her childhood home in Lorain. As an adult, Jennifer owned and cherished her beloved dogs: Sadie Bear, Sammy and her latest fur baby, Teddy. If ever she encountered a stray animal in the road, without fail she would rescue it and return it to safety. Jennifer was also a voracious reader, loved movies and music, and particularly loved attending live music venues.
If you were a friend of Jennifer’s, you were a friend for life. She was extremely loyal to her family and friends and was a natural protector of all those for whom she cared. Jennifer ardently fought for the underdog in any and all situations. At the slightest suspicion of mistreatment of any of her friends or especially her younger sisters, Jennifer would quickly jump to their defense.
Jennifer’s friends will all remember her as self-assured, possessing a hilarious wit, fun-loving spirit and exuberant personality. She was quick to laugh and smile and was kind- hearted and generous.
Jennifer was proud of her British heritage, and held her mother, Diana, in extremely high esteem.
Without doubt, the greatest love of Jennifer’s life was her son, Manny. Her lifelong dream of being a mother was realized when he was born, and her greatest joy came from seeing him grow into a handsome, smart and kind young man. Jennifer and Manny enjoyed a very special relationship, and they had countless fun times together. They especially enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit family and enjoy the beach and sun. Jennifer and Manny also loved watching tv and movies together, eating out at their favorite restaurant, and playing games.
We will all greatly miss Jennifer’s beautiful smile, her strong and adventurous spirit, her larger-than- life personality and her unconditional love. She was taken from us much too soon and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from noon until the time of her funeral service at 2:00 pm, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. To send an online condolence, please go to www.dovinreberjones.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends that donations, in Jennifer's memory, be made to The LCADA Way, 215 Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, Ohio, 44281. www.thelcadaway.org
