Jerome Michael Kocak's Obituary
Jerome Michael Kocak, age 87, a lifelong resident of Lorain passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 11, 2022. He was born on October 13, 1934 in Lorain, Ohio to Adam and Verna (nee Kovach) Kocak.
He was a 1952 graduate of Lorain High School. In 1955 Jerome enlisted with the United States Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division an airborne infantry division specializing in parachute assault operations. He was honorably discharged in 1958.
Jerome started his career at B.F. Goodrich and then went on to work as a Quality Control Engineer with Bendix Corporation for 30 plus years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion Post 18.
He was a CYO and Amherst Little League coach for many years, coaching, baseball, basketball, and track. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling. Jerome had a great sense of humor and never had a problem striking up a conversation with anyone he met. He was a friend to all, and his family meant everything to him.
Jerome is survived by his children, Mark (Marianne) Kocak, Chris (Michael) Vail, Brian (Brenda) Kocak, Jane (Jim) Truskot, and John (Rebecca) Kocak; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Kocak; and his sister, LaVerne (Tracy) Debracy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, Carol (nee Andrews) Kocak; second wife, Marlene (nee Flanagan) Kocak; parents, Adam and Verna Kocak; and brothers, Walter and David Kocak.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster
Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 17th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
