Jerry K. Davidson's Obituary
Jerry K. Davidson, age 79, of Lorain passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at New Life Hospice after a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 4, 1934 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Julian Davidson of Maryville, TN and Garnet (nee Glover) Davidson, of Portsmouth, OH. Jerry graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1953. Upon his graduation, he continued his education at Rio Grande College in Rio Grande, Ohio graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor Degree in Education.
After graduating from college, Jerry moved to Lorain and began his career in teaching. He taught at Charleston Elementary, Masson, Jane Lindsey schools. He retired in 1982 after 25 years of educating children.
Jerry enjoyed cooking out, traveling, water skiing, tennis and golf. He was a huge fan of the football and basketball teams of The Ohio State University. In the summers, Jerry worked as a life guard at Oak Hills Country Club and was the swim team coach for 8 seasons at Carousel Swim Club in Sheffield Lake. He loved playing basketball at the YMCA on 28th. Street in Lorain. He also played for numerous softball teams in Lorain. While playing softball for Campana Café they won several championships.
He would say to others about his wife, Marilyn, “Some guys marry their high school sweetheart but I married the girl 4 doors down.”
Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Marilyn (nee Johnson); son, Anthony Alan Davidson, of Lorain; and his daughter, Lisa L. Davidson, of Lorain; sister-in-law, Georgeann Sohn,of New York City, NY; and his favorite family pet, Kirby.
Private family funeral services were held. Arrangements were under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center.
