Jerry R. Elliott's Obituary
Jerry R. Elliott, age 80, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Brethren Nursing Home in Ashland, Ohio. He was born on December 15, 1942, in Madison, Alabama, to Robert and Louise (nee Bolin) Elliott. At the age of 6, Jerry moved to Ohio and attended Clearview High School.
Jerry began his career at Ford Motor Company on April 17, 1972, and dedicated himself to his work until his retirement on October 1, 1997. He was a committed member of Christian Life Church in Lorain, Ohio, where his faith and family held a special place in his heart. Jerry was known for his open and accepting nature, and he served as an exceptional role model as a husband, father, and grandfather.
Devotion and love defined Jerry's 55-year marriage to the love of his life, Clara Louise Elliott. His role as a grandfather was unparalleled, bringing boundless joy to his family. He had a passion for watching the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and The Ohio State Buckeyes, indulging in his love for sweets, particularly chocolate and corndogs. Jerry found solace in fishing, hunting, gardening, and golfing, always cherishing the beauty of the outdoors. He also had a fondness for vintage cars and travel but found his greatest joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and brothers.
Jerry is survived by his children, Jeff (Nona) Elliott of Ashland, Penny (Paul) Williams of Wakeman, John Elliott of Venice, Florida, and Brian (Carmen) Elliott of Hubert, North Carolina. He will be deeply missed by his beloved grandchildren: Matthew (fiancée, Paige Bowman) Williams, Travis (Jessica) Elliott, Jerry (Sarah Maley) Elliott, Adam (Kennedy) Williams, Katie Elliott, Tyler (Erica) Elliott, Hannah (Joshua) Martinez, Sara Elliott, and Madison Elliott. His legacy extends to his great-grandchildren: Clara June Elliott, Carson Elliott, Isla Elliott, and Lucas Martinez.
Jerry leaves behind his brothers, Larry (Virginia) Elliott and Phillip Elliott, brother-in-law Clifford Jones; sisters-in-law Martha Elliott, Sandra Leonard, Maria Bush; and brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Pearl Bush. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara Louise Elliott, in 2018; his parents, Robert and Louise Elliott; his brother, Billy Elliott; his sister, Diane Eisher; brothers-in-law Carl Leonard and Marshall Bush; sister-in-law Sue Elliott; father and mother-in-law, Rev.
