Jerry King's Obituary
Jerry King, a devoted family man, esteemed veteran, and aficionado of classic cars, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born in McMinnville, TN, on January 28, 1952, to his parents Hershel C. and Minnie Lee (nee Scruggs) King.
Jerry began his journey serving his country, enlisting in the United States Marine in 1970 as a Private First Class. During his service, he demonstrated exceptional dedication, earning accolades including the National Defense Service Medal, Letter of Appreciation, and Rifle Marksmanship Badge.
After his honorable discharge, Jerry dedicated 21 years of his life to the field of Tool and Die Maintenance with Oatey Company. His commitment and expertise were evident in his work, earning him respect among colleagues and the community.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jerry's passion for classic cars was a defining aspect of his life. His affiliation with the American Cruisers spoke to his deep love for these timeless automobiles, where he found joy and camaraderie among fellow enthusiasts.
Jerry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his cherished wife of 36 years, Debbie Moore; his children, Jerry "Rocky" (Rebecca) King Jr., Bobby Joe (Lisa) King, Cathy (Adam) Perkins, John (Christine) Moore, and Mark (Lauri) Moore; his step-daughter, Tina Ramey; his beloved grandchildren, Becky, Heather, Jojo, Tony, Freya Fay, Marissa, AJ, Johnny, Savannah, and Gavin; as well as his siblings, Anna Fae Gugliemotto, Ivan Dean King, and Robert L. King.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel C. and Minnie Lee King, and his brother, David W. King. Jerry's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 4, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, located at 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Interment will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., with Military Honors conducted by the Amherst Veterans Honor Guard.
