Joan Marie Demchik's Obituary
Joan Marie Demchik, age 80, of Lorain passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake. She was born on September 10, 1940, in Lorain, Ohio to Joseph and Ann (nee Geri) Zemanek and was a 1958 graduate of Lorain High School.
Joan made her career as a medical transcriber, working for several medical offices. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, in Lorain and was a former member of Holy Trinity Church in Lorain until it’s closing. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, a social organization that she truly enjoyed.
She loved traveling, cooking, crafting and most especially the time she spent with her family.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Daniel) Lorenz, and Natalie Demchik; granddaughters, Alexandra (Jason) Bazilevich, and Jordan Lorenz; and her great-grandson, Asher Bazilevich.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George J. Demchik, in 2015; parents, Joseph and Ann Zemanek; and her sister, Diane Zemanek.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 11, 2021, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 12:00 noon in the funeral center. Rev. Father Daniel Divis, Pastor of St. Mary’s Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
