Joanne M. Walbom's Obituary
Joanne M. Walbom (Mama, as she was fondly called by family) passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Joanne was born on May 29, 1930, one of nine children to Maria (Fagliotto) and Frank Fantin. She was a lifetime resident of Lorain, Ohio.
Joanne married her beloved husband of 61 years, Herman G. Walbom, in 1957. They built a home where together they raised the next 3 generations of their family.
She was a devout Roman Catholic and enjoyed serving school lunches through Lorain City Schools at Masson and Admiral King until she proudly retired in 1993.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with family-especially her sisters, children, and grandchildren. She loved gardening, walking around the neighborhood, and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herman (Gene) in 2018, her son Herman (Butch) in 2024, her parents and siblings, Angelo, John, David, Mary Jane, Theresa, Rosie, and her identical twin, Anna.
She is survived by her sister, Virginia Glass; her daughters, Lisa Crouch and Leslie Gaul; grandchildren, Steve (Laura) Crouch, Michael (Rhuie) Crouch, Brian Crouch, Marisa (Andrew) Crouch, Gail (Gabriel) Palko, and Rachel Whitmore; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Her family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
