Joe "Negro" Otero's Obituary
Joe “Negro” Otero, age 67, of Lorain passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, in Lorain.
He was born December 29, 1949 in Catano, Puerto Rico to Juan and Crusita (nee Pagan) Otero.
He was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic for 26 years for Nelson Stud Welding Inc., in Elyria.
Joe was a very involved member of the House of Praise church. He had a great love for God’s Word.
He enjoyed playing guitar, dominos and pool. He also had a love for karate, tai chi, softball and golf.
Joe is survived by his wife of 26 years, Nelida (nee Luciano); sons, Joe (Jenna) Otero Jr., of Florida, and Paul Albert Otero, of Hawaii; daughters, Michelle Otero, of Florida, Sara (Paul) Otero King, and JoAnna Otero, of Lorain; grandchildren, Mercedes, Dasia, Quentin, and Terrelle; great-granddaughter, Audrey Rose; brothers, Angel (Lillian) Otero, and Rosendo (Nelly) Otero; and his sisters, Hilda (Jose) Ayala, Iris Otero, and Carmen Otero.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Crusita Otero; and his brother, Juan Antonio Otero.
Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a memorial service following at House of Praise International Church, 4321 Elyria Ave., Lorain, OH 44055.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
