Joe O. Perez's Obituary
Joe O. Perez, age 86, of Lorain passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.
He was born on February 4, 1929 in Deering, Missouri to Albino and Caterina (nee Ortega) Perez and graduated from Saginaw High School, Michigan in 1946.
Joe enlisted with the United States Air Force on May 15, 1948 and was honorably discharged on July 31, 1952 .
He was employed as a Millwright for U.S. Steel, retiring in 1991 after 38 years of service. Joe also served as a SGT. With the Lorain Police Auxiliary and the Sheriffs Auxiliary for over 30 years.
Joe was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, and loved to bowl, and play softball and volleyball.
He is survived by his sons, Keith (Bonnie) Perez, John (Kelly Watson) Perez, and Glenn Perez; granddaughters, Taylor, Morgan and Jaimee Perez; sisters, Juanita Rodriguez, Molly Rivera, Victoria Gonzalez, Maclobia Morales, and Amelia Gonzalez; brothers, Octavio Quiroz and Ruben Garcia; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Margarita Perez; mother, Catalina Ortiz; father, Albino Perez; brothers, Juan Perez, Rogelio Quiroz, and Jenero Quiroz; sisters, Celia Gutierrez, and San Juanita Villegas.
The Perez family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Gilbert Silva, of House of Praise International Church, Lorain will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Joe to New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
