John Bucher's Obituary
John Bucher III, 71 of Lorain, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a short illness.
Born Aug. 31, 1941 in Lorain, he lived in Lorain his entire life. He was a 1959 graduate of Lorain High School.
John served in the US Army for 6 years during the Vietnam War with Company B of the 1st Airborne Battle Group, 327 Infantry, Third US Army. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Parachutist Badge, Expert Rifle Badge and the Sharpshooter Badge.
He worked for the City of Lorain in the Parks Department as a mechanic for 25 years, retiring in 2009. Prior to this, he owned and operated John's Sunoco in Lorain for 20 years.
He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 6621. He enjoyed car racing, drag racing and Nascar.
Surviving are his sons, Andrew H. of Sheffield Lake, John D. of Grand Junction, CO., Timothy K. of Vermilion, and William J. of Idaho Springs, CO.; his first wife, Izetta M. (nee Watson) of Lorain; 11 grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Poliak of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Lorainne C. (nee Smith) Bucher in 2012; and his parents, John Bucher Jr., in 1975, and Margaret (Stolec) Bucher in 1977.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Interment will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp. The VFW Post #451 will conduct full military honors.
